LVAD Complications Case Reports
Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) have transformed the management of advanced heart failure by providing mechanical circulatory support as bridge-to-transplant, bridge-to-recovery, or destination therapy. However, LVAD therapy is associated with a wide range of clinically significant complications that require prompt recognition and specialized management. Case Reports and Case Series in Cardiology Journal welcomes submissions of LVAD complications case reports and case series that highlight rare presentations, device-related adverse events, and management outcomes.
This dedicated section focuses on clinically important complications related to device function, thromboembolic events, infection, bleeding, and hemodynamic instability. Published reports support cardiologists, heart failure specialists, intensivists, and cardiothoracic teams with practical case-based learning. Recent case literature specifically highlights unusual complications such as aortic regurgitation, pump cable damage, display failure, recurrent bacteremia, and ventricular arrhythmias.
We invite manuscripts covering:
-
Pump thrombosis case reports
-
Driveline infection and bacteremia
-
LVAD-associated bleeding complications
-
Gastrointestinal bleeding cases
-
Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
-
Right ventricular failure after LVAD
-
Device malfunction and alarm failure
-
Aortic regurgitation after LVAD
-
Ventricular arrhythmia case reports
-
Pump exchange and replacement cases
-
Rare mechanical complications
-
Long-term follow-up case series
At Case Reports and Case Series in Cardiology Journal, we encourage authors to submit rare, educational, and outcome-based LVAD complication cases that improve clinical decision-making and patient safety.
