ICD Shock and Lead Failure Case Reports
Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) are life-saving devices used for the prevention and treatment of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. However, clinically significant complications such as inappropriate shocks, lead fracture, lead dislodgement, oversensing, and device malfunction can occur and require urgent evaluation. Case Reports and Case Series in Cardiology Journal welcomes submissions of ICD shock and lead failure case reports and case series that highlight rare clinical scenarios, device complications, emergency management, and long-term outcomes.
This dedicated section focuses on clinically important reports involving inappropriate ICD shocks, ventricular lead fracture, shock coil failure, sensing abnormalities, and early post-implantation complications. Recent case reports have documented very early lead fracture within days of implantation and multiple inappropriate shocks due to lead malfunction, emphasizing the educational value of such cases.
We invite manuscripts covering:
-
Inappropriate ICD shock case reports
-
Multiple shock episodes
-
ICD lead fracture cases
-
Shock coil malfunction
-
Lead dislodgement and migration
-
Oversensing and undersensing
-
T-wave oversensing cases
-
Twiddler syndrome and Reel syndrome
-
Early post-implant lead failure
-
Emergency device deactivation cases
-
Lead extraction and replacement
-
Long-term follow-up case series
At Case Reports and Case Series in Cardiology Journal, we encourage authors to submit rare, educational, and outcome-based ICD complication cases that improve arrhythmia management and device safety.
